A new subspecies of Phengaris (Maculinea) arion (Linnaeus, 1758) from Middle Asia (Lepidoptera: Lycaenidae).

SUMMARY. In this paper I describe a new subspecies Phengaris (Maculinea) arion dianae, ssp. n. with type locality: Kazakhstan, Zailiisky Alatau Mts., Bolshaya Almaatinka valley, 1800 m. The holotype of this new subspecies is deposited in the Zoological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (St. Petersburg). The type locality of the subspecies P. (M.) arion naruena (Courvoisier, 1911) is located in the Lower Volga region, therefore it is a junior synonym: Phengaris (Maculinea) arion rueli (Krulikowsky, 1891) = P. (M.) arion naruena (Courvoisier, 1911), syn. n.

SUMMARY. The paper contains annotated list of 40 potter wasp species of Rostov-Don Province, based on study of the collection of Zoology department at Southern Federal University, as well as of small collection of A.V. Shkuratov. Brachyodynerus magnificus (Morawitz, 1867), Eumenes tripunctatus (Christ, 1791), Onychopterocheilus pallasii (Klug, 1805), Pseudepipona augusta (Morawitz, 1867) decrease in abundance and distribution and are recommended for inclusion in the Red List of the Rostov-Don Province.

On the fauna of Lepidoptera of Penza Province. Аddition 1.

SUMMARY. Additions to the list of Lepidoptera of Penza Province collected up to 2013 is given. It includes 120 species, 82 of which are cited for the first time for the province, the rest of the records being various updates and corrections. Occurrence in the province is confirmed for Episcythrastis tetricellа ([Denis et Schiffermüller], 1775) and Euxoa ochrogaster (Guenée, 1852), previously know after early 20th century materials, as well as Eupithecia extensaria (Freyer, 1845) and Сусlорhоrа porata (Linnaeus, 1767) for which the early 20th century material could not be examined. Several species are excluded from the species list of the province: Hypochalcia lignella (Hübner, 1796) (material reidentified as H. propinquella (Eversmann, 1842)), Acontia titania (Esper, [1798]) (the sole specimen reidentified as А. melanura (Tauscher, 1809)), Cucullia thapsiphaga (Treitschke, 1826) (the sole specimen reidentified as C. scrophulariae ([Denis et Schiffermüller], 1775), already known from the province). Additionally, 5 species incorrectly identified in [Shlykov, 1988], but most likely occurring there were excluded from the main species list. Northernmost and north-westernmost records in European Russia are reported for Exaeretia lepidella (Christoph, 1872), Psorosa dahliella (Treitschke, 1832), Hypochalcia decorella (Hübner, [1810]) and Cleptotypodes ledereri (Staudinger, 1870).

Оn the fauna of higher Lepidoptera of the Udmurtia. Addition 2.

SUMMARY. Additions to the list of higher Lepidoptera of the Udmurt Republic are presented, comprised of 17 species, of which 13 are new for the republic and 9 are new for Middle Cisuralia: Watsonalla binaria (Hufnagel, 1767), Kemtrognophos ambiguata (Duponchel, 1830), Coenocalpe lapidata (Hübner, [1809]), Perizoma lugdunaria (Herrich-Schäffer, 1855), Eupithecia tenuiata (Hübner, 1813), Eupithecia conterminata (Lienig et Zeller, 1846), Idaea sylvestraria (Hübner, [1799]), Scopula beckeraria (Lederer, 1853) and Eriogaster lanestris (Linnaeus, 1758). Northernmost records in Cisuralia are reported for Apocheima hispidaria ([Denis et Schiffermüller], 1775) and Eupithecia millefoliata Rössler, 1866. Occurence of Euphydryas intermedia (Ménétriès, 1859) in taiga regions of Middle Cisuralia and North-East European Russia is confirmed. Considering the insufficient differences in molecular data and other characters the following synonymy is established: Dendrolimus pini (Linnaeus, 1758) = D. kilmez Mikkola et Ståhls, 2008, syn. n., the latter being treated, taking into account the cladograms based upon COI and ITS genes [Mikkola, Ståhls, 2008] as a hybrid between D. pini and D. superans sibiricus Tchetverikov, 1908. In addition, “forgotten” records by L.K. Krulikowsky are brought to attention, in particular those of Colias erate (Esper, [1801]) (as "Colias hyale L. ab. fulvocoma nova" [Круликовский, 1907]) и Tongeia fischeri (Eversmann, 1843).

Lepidopterous insects in J.G. Georgi 1800's book as the first list of the order for the Russian fauna.

SUMMARY. The first list of the Lepidoptera of the fauna of Russian Impire (undeservedly forgotten now) was provided by Johann Gottlieb Georgi (1729-1802) as result of “academitian expeditions” of the late XVIII Century and analyses of all available private collections, mostly of Boeber, Cappel and Cederheim. Totally the list includes 154 species known nowadays as Rhopalocera, 30 species of 'Sphinx' (Sphingidae, Zygaenidae, Sesiidae, Syntomidae) and 370 'Phalaena' groupped into Bombyces, Geometrae, Tortrices, Pyralides, Noctua, Tineae, Allucitae and [Hepiales].
