The Catalogue of beetles (Coleoptera) of the Urals and adjacent territories. IV. Staphylinoidea: Hydraenidae, Ptiliidae, Agyrtidae (with brief additions to the previous chapters).

SUMMARY. The 4th part of the Сatalogue of beetles (Coleoptera) of the Urals contains an annotated list of Hydraenidae, Ptiliidae and Agyrtidae families (superfamily Staphylinoidea) beetles of the Urals Region with adjacent terri-tories of the Middle Volga Region, the Vyatka-Kama Interfluve, Western Siberia, and Western Kazakhstan. Reference information on the regional faunal composition of Hydraenidae (28 species), Ptiliidae (5 species) and Agyrtidae (2 species) is provided. In the Subpolar Urals (in the Komi Republic) 2 species of Hydraenidae are recorded. In the Northern Urals (in the Komi Republic, northeastern Perm Area, and northwestern Sverd-lovsk Province) 3 species of Hydraenidae and 1 species of Agyrtidae are recorded. In the Middle Urals 11 spe-cies of Hydraenidae and 2 species both of Ptiliidae and Agyrtidae are numbered. For the Southern Urals 26 species of Hydraenidae (4 species in Bashkortostan Republic, 6 species in Chelyabinsk Province, and 22 spe-cies in Orenburg Province) are listed. A summary table of the composition, structure, and distribution of su-praspecific taxa of Hydraenidae, Ptiliidae and Agyrtidae in the Urals Region and adjacent territories is provid-ed. Limnebius crinifer Rey, 1885 (Hydraenidae) and Ptenidium myrmicophilum (Motschulsky, 1845) (Ptiliidae) are first reported for the Urals, and L. parvulus (Herbst, 1797) (Hydraenidae) is found in the Middle Urals for the first time, and these records are based on material from the Perm Area (Perm City).

The Turanian arid zone as a Pleistocene refugium and the role of the Paratethys basin and Caspian-Aral transgressions in its functioning (using some Lepidoptera species as an example)

SUMMARY. Using geographic distribution and DNA (COI) data, it is demonstrated that colonization of the central regions of Kazakhstan by specialized Lepidoptera species (three species were selected as model ones) is impossible. The influence of the Paratethys and Caspian-Aral transgressions is shown to be the cause, leading to poor soil conditions for most butterfly food plant species

Observations of winter activity of long-legged flies (Diptera: Dolichopodidae) in the Vladimir Province

SUMMARY. Observing insects emerging onto the snow, we established the presence of winter activity in four fly species from the family Dolichopodidae. These are Campsicnemus scambus (Fallén, 1823), Dolichopus rupestris Hali-day, 1833, Micromorphus albipes Zetterstedt, 1843 and Thrypticus atomus Frey, 1915. The species most fre-quently encountered during thaws is C. scambus. Summarizing observations on its phenology, we can note the activity of flies throughout the year and confirm the data on overwintering at the imago stage. For D. rupestris, M. albipes and T. atomus, we present information on winter findings for the first time.
