The lectotype designation of Anthocharis belia var. pulverata Christoph, 1884 and its comparison to the lectotype of Anthocharis daphalis Moore, 1865 (Lepidoptera: Pieridae).

SUMMARY. The lectotype of Anthocharis belia var. pulverata Christoph, 1884 is designated and compared with the lectotype of Anthocharis daphalis Moore, 1865. Sequencing of one specimen of Euchloe daphalis pulverata (Christoph, 1884) from Kirghiz mountain range have been carried out, occurrence of this taxon in North Tian-Shan is confirmed. No occurrence of Euchloe ausonia (Hübner, 1804) is determined for Middle Asia.

A comparative study of the composition of the Coleoptera inhabiting the major biotopes of the nature reserve “Galychya Gora”.

SUMMARY. Throughout 1995 to 2001, 117591 imago specimens of 1488 Coleoptera species belonging to 79 families were collected in the major biotopes of “Morozova Gora” (the nature reserve “Galychya Gora”) – steppe, oak forest, meadow, forest fringe and estate. The research offers a comparative analysis of the Coleoptera imago composition found in certain biotopes as well as a classification of biotopes depending on the number of families having the widest range of species. It also establishes the extent of similarity between the species composition of the Coleoptera found in different biotopes according to the Chekanovsky-Sørensen and Jaccard indices. Stenotopic Coleoptera species inhabiting the key biotopes (steppe, oak forest and meadow) were identified.

Moths of Udmurtia. 5. Alucitidae, Pterophoridae and Pyraloidea (Lepidoptera).

SUMMARY. As a result of consolidation of data on lower moths of Udmurtia Republic, an annotated list of Alucitidae, Pterophoridae and Pyraloidea is presented. Study of published data as well as recent materials (collected from 1987 to 2013) has revealed 153 species, 25 of which are only known after Krulikowsky’s publications and are included provisionally, assessing correctness of that author’s identification and their overall zonal distribution; 34 species are new to Udmurtia and Middle Cisuralia, including 20 being new to “Southern European taiga region” of the “Catalogue of the Lepidoptera of Russia” [2008]. 10 unnumbered species are included, which were reported from the republic in earlier literature, but cannot be accepted without collection material. Excluded from the fauna of Udmurtia, Central Cisuralia, Volgo-Vyatka region and Center of European Russia are Mecyna trinalis ([Denis et Schiffermüller], 1775), as recently material belongs to other species. Excluded from the fauna of Udmurtia, Central Cisuralia and Volgo-Vyatka region are Ematheudes varicella Ragonot, 1887, as recent material belongs to other species).

Shore-flies (Diptera: Ephydridae), inhabiting the floodplain of upper Volga river in extreme low water period.

SUMMARY. Shore-flies (Ephydridae) were studied in the system of lakes of the upper Volga river and in the floodplain on the distance about 380 km down from the source in the summer of 2014, when the water level was the lowest since 1946. Totally 20 species of flies were captured, mainly common widely distributed species. The majority of species were discovered in their usual habitats. One species – Scatella paludum (Meigen, 1830) – preferred the places with abruption of cold subsoil waters exclusively. The species of the genus Pelina Haliday, 1837 were discovered in unusual habitat – ferruginous cool water spring.
